Dan The Man

So today stated off like any other day for the most part, woke up ate some cereal, watched the British news and had no clue what they were talking about and getting an early start to the days events. i completely forgot though that we were meeting up with Rosita Boland for breakfast to talk about her experience as a feature story writing and pretty much what she does for a living. Over coffee and some tasty pastries that were provided by the coffee shop we sat and listened to her talk about some very interesting things. Sad thing was that first off the coffee shop got loud as more and more people came into to get coffee and second she had a really soft voice so it was hard to hear her to being with. From what I heard I liked and it was a lot of good information.
After the wonderful second breakfast I had it was off to the highlight of the day. We got to meet the United States Ambassador of Ireland Dan Rooney! It was the coolest thing, I felt so privileged that we got the chance to actually go and meet and talk with him, I mean how many people can say that they did this, not the many that’s how much. It was really interesting going in none the less because it was very informational. The main point that he was talking about was to try and find alternate sources for energy in Ireland like such ways as wave power and wind power. I had no idea that Mr. Rooney had any interest in dealing with this so I looked at in a different way after hearing all of this.
Today was the second of three trips to DCU to have a lecture with one of the teachers about different media sources. Today’s topic was soap opera’s, which I thought was going to be really boring but to tell you the truth it was fun. The teacher just went through the history starting back in the early 1960’s and went all the way up till today. I didn’t even know that Ireland was so big in soap opera’s; it’s kind of funny how no matter where you are in the world people are willing to watch shows like these. Another cool thing was that the teacher also had written two books about the topic and edited a book as well. I didn’t know that it was so in depth dealing with soaps but then again there are a lot of things I don’t know about this world.

Tonight’s going to be fun….going out with a bunch of people and getting some drinks…don’t have to wake up till around 12 tomorrow…going to be a long night

When in Rome we shall do as the Romans, when in Dublin we do shots at the bar
